Thanks JJ. Direct and to the point.

Big game tonight in the fact that the Blackhawks usually play to the level of their competition. Need a strong game tonight.

Give me a 3rd liner who can pot some goals and a vet d-man who can step up in a pinch and be that 4th defenseman if needed.
Good to see the Captain step up his game and be a driving force on the 1st line again, it's been a long time coming!!!!
Keep the W's coming Hawks....
We're rolling into form here and looking quite good, no time to let up...

MY OPINION HERE:

Yes, the "step up" esp. on Toews' line maybe allows Bowman to set his sights lower—depth LW, but I still think it's wise if it's a guy like an Eaves (for example) you could spot up with Toews if you had to.

I'm out for a while,or until i hear something, everyone play nice.

Re-posting from the last thread,

Just heard some guy talking about the Hawks trading for Sven Bearstchi (or however its spelled). Was on the train so I couldn't hear all the details. Assuming something would have come out by now if there was any legs to that.

I don't get why everyone has a problem with a GM saying "we like our guys and we don't anticipate making many moves at the deadline". Only idiotic GM's go out in public and say "look, we are looking to make a big splash and get superstar" when the price for such will be at it's highest.

I don't know if it's lowering expectations as much as playing poker, because that's really what the trade deadline (in any sport) is. Everyone has a hand, no one really knows what card everyone is holding (you can get an idea by their behavior), and in the end, EVERYONE has a price they are willing to pay. Everyone in the NHL knows the Hawks need a legit 1LW but they don't know what Stan is willing to give up.

When you go car shopping, do you walk up to the salesman and say "I have $30,000 to spend on a car, which one do you want to sell me"? If so, be prepared to walk away with a car valued at $20,000 on the open market.

Baerstchi would be a solid LW pick-up, I've brought his name up before. He's been out since February 7th with a concussion, I don't know when (or if) he will return.

Patrick Eaves will be the 3rd line addition. Hes having a nice year and adds good playoff experience and toughness. (And a very cool beard!)

That blog post needed to be said, JJ. "We like our team" can be annoying to anybody, but there's a good reason for such statements.

Those two ingredients will help for sure-Not sure they can do both.

All I know for sure-The other night when Hammer was in the box-Q would rather play Keith for the full 2 mins on the PK than Campbell for 40 seconds. That's telling anyone that pays attention when the real season starts Keith better be up to the task every shift otherwise sooner or later it will likely make a difference. There was supposed to be more depth here on D this season, and there was but Keith still logs big minutes.

Aaaaaaand they (the Wing) are . . . where right now?
- John Jaeckel

I think I was answering why the wings sent Fippula was traded, JJ.

Not sure what your point is.

The wings got old retire one of the best defenders in the history of hockey, had Rafalski (sp) become injury plagued as smaller defenders from the old rules did, had the front line stars get older and the late draft picks and player development was able to help fill holes and replace, none of the younger prospects over the course of years reached elite status.
And in my humble opinion the fact they weren't able re-establish solid top four defenders was another huge strike to their decline and the fact that jimmy howard who was by some considered equal to a young Crawford way back, never took the big steps and Mrazek athletic as he is might have overstayed his welcome with present teammates.
Good teams Cup teams ALWAYs go cold, bad, dark for a while and the management fought the good fight to keep the streak and try to challenge again.

But John somehow your comment /answer seemed to some sort of proof for doing things differently...I am really not sure because I go backward from13,12,11,10,09. Reading these so I may be missing your point.
That if they traded for the Duchense of that era, or kept Fuppila there present stage would be Rosy?
Was there a connection to the Hawks present situation and what you advocate?
I just felt like you swipe at me. (Tearing up)

Flopped since he turned pro...Sven Baertschi is left wing that just hasn't fit enough to have the impact as a goal scorer with the team that drafted him r his present Canucks. the Swiss native had one big year with Portland Winterhawks of the WHL and although he has great tools never was able to lay a consistent 200 foot game
He under six foot too. still young,but... Not the board guy I would look for. He is still young and has had a smattering of injuries over his short career...anyone really think he answers Toews complaining by being better that wha is here? Not me.

If someone on the train is talking hockey (or at the airport, drugstore, gas station) ALWAYS take the opportunity to say, "Do you were that Indianhead on your heart?"

Hey I'm not advocating anything, just saying I heard the guy talking about it.
